Help with bleaching hair?

I have naturally light brown hair. Ive had it platinum blonde/white for about a year. About two weeks ago I dyed it with jerome russells punky colors and its hot pink. I want to go back to blonde, get the pink out because it hasnt washed out at ALL and I miss being blonde. Obviously its going to damage it, but should I do something like color oops or bleach it back? It should only take two mins of bleaching to get it blonde, but will it COMPLETELY fry it? Can't catch my horse?

I have a 6 year old Gelding (Welsh section d) He is a pain to catch!! I have had him since August and he has always been like this. For about a month in Feb he came straight to me in the field (I think this was from watching the other horse in his field coming up to me and getting praised with a pat) But he is still in the same field as this horse and I still spend about an hour running round the field to get him! I dont want to use treats as I know this can be dangerous with others in the field but if he is the last one out I will admit I use treats and catch him instantly. I have just moved yards and he will be out with about another 6 horses which is making me worry that eventually he will be impossible to catch. Can anyone give me any tips as I thought that he may have warmed to me bringin him in a bit now with it being nearly 10 months!!! I have tried chasing him and turning away when I see the signs of him lowering his head and turning his ears and licking ect but nothing seems to work!! Please help!!

Taking my Filly away from my Mare?

I have 3 horses; 1 year old Filly(flicka), 3 year old mare(Bella) and a 17 year old pony gelding(midnight) Btw Bella isn't Flicka's Dam. My grandpa, who owns horses but lives about 3 hours away asked me the other day if I wanted him to take Flicka down to his home. in a way i want to let him but i don't. see i can afford 3 horses and i have enough land and everything but it would be easier with only 2 on me, if you know what i mean. Im not worried about flicka because i know she will be taken good care of(he has 5 other horses, she can play with) but im worried about Bella. i really don't know how she would act. i have midnight, who couldn't get out and play and follower her around like flicka does. she gets enough exercise from me riding and lunging her but ive heard of horses getting depressed if you take there buddies away? anyway, do you think im just worry for nothing and i should let my grandpa take flicka or should i keep her? i think i answered everything but if you have any questions just ask. Can someone point me toward the right saddle?

I bought a standardbred gelding a few months ago. He has fairly high withers and my saddle rest right on top of his withers. because of this we havent been taking him on rides as I know that is uncomfortable and possibly painful. I am looking for a saddle for a high withered horse. I have looked at some gaited horse saddles and a couple austrailian saddles as they seem to have higher pommels. If you could maybe give me some links for saddles to consider for me to look at that would be great. Something to help give me an idea of what to look for. I know he was ridden english and some western before we got him. I would like to stay way from english saddles if possible. Thanks!

To get the best BRIGHT red color you need to bleach it to White Blonde/Blonde. I recommend Manic Panic Flash Lightening 30 Volume Bleach. Leave it on for 30/40 minutes or until it turns blonde. I would wait to put bleach on your roots because they dye much faster and will turn out lighter than the rest of your hair. The Manic Panic red dye is also very good. :D

Help, This horse has Narcolepsy!?

so i just started riding this horse for a friend. He is a real sweetheart. Big 17 hand gelding, mostly appy but i think he has some throughbred in him. We i was told before i started riding him that he has like narcolepsy, and today he showed it to me for the first time. I was saddling him in the cross ties and he was doing great. He started to look sleepy so i started pushing his head around and talking to him and then he went down. he laid on the floor for a few minutes - i quick released the cross ties - and let him lay, he then popped up...stood there for a moment, he swayed again so i loosed the saddle and then he was totally fine. got on him and rode him for about an hour and had no trouble - except for being a bit excitable - i dont know what to do with him. He always does it when being cinched. Anyone have any ideas as to what to do?! Im at a loss, but he is starting to scare the little kids that ride at the barn!

Highlights gone wrong...what can I do?

Last night I highlighted my hair using a Jerome Russell b blonde kit for medium to dark brown hair. I'd previously been colouring my hair black but not for about 3 months. The highlights have gone a gingery colour, I left the mixture on for 90 mins which was maximum development time, the mixture was peroxide and powder bleach. It doesn't look hideous but I want it lighter and not so orange. Would a toner work and how long would I have to leave it to put more highlights in?

Sweet feed is garbage food for horses so if you can get her on a senior feed, that would be the first good step you could take. Hopefully, she is getting free choice hay and a salt block and clean water as those are a necessity for good health. Since she is low weight, the alfalfa will be good for her and will not cause her any problems. You did not say how long she was working each day. Do you think three days weekly is too much for her right now? Just wondering since she is under weight. If she works a heavier workload with warmer weather, the alfalfa hay will not be good for her and she should be switched to a good grass mix hay. The digestion of alfalfa in the horse's body creates a lot of internal heat. In hot weather with a heavy work load, that would be way too much heat for a horse to handle and would be dangerous (such as working cow horses in Texas cannot eat alfalfa due to their long hard work schedules daily and the heat in their environment). If you could get her on a senior feed and take control of the feeding schedule, that would be a good thing for the horse. It is good for the horse that you are involved in her life and hopefully, can influence the owners and educate them so the horses will be properly cared for. I think the key is getting her on a good food source and give her two to three feedings per day. Bless you for caring about this horse and trying to help her and the owners. Training a 3 year old. ?

Wow--there is a lot to digest here--so what I have from these 4paragraphs is you have a 3 year old that has no manners and you want to know where to start? Start at the very beginning and teaching respect. You really cannot move forward doing anything until you have this. That means you will probably butt heads. I got my gelding when he was 2--about the same thing. Not mean, but very spoiled and pushy.. Be.FIRM and CONSISTENT. Make sure that your requests and Ques are clear and precise and the same each and every time. Be firm, not cruel, but make sure he understand that YOU are the boss and he will do as asked or there is a consequence. Break things down very small and work your way up and make sure and praise and praise whenever something is done as you asked for it immediately. Once you have the respect and trust that will be needed--then move forward from there. If you get to a point where you are again butting heads (and you will) break it down again to smaller request-quicker success. What I have found with dealing with different animals is that they all mature totally different paces-just like people do. You can overwhelm a less mature horse VERY QUICKLY (this was my guy-and sounds like your fella too) and you can have to just slow it down and take is in smaller steps. A more mature animal can take things at a much quicker pace. So take your time.

Working with a green horse?

I have a quarter horse gelding. He is a little older than 10 and I was the first one to do anything with him. He strives to learn and does so quickly, but he gets easily bored with just doing groundwork and walking in circles or around poles. I have had him for three years and I have been riding him. He does a great job especially when on the trails. I have not started changing gaits yet, though. A few times we got into a trot, but i did not cue him into it, and he got skittish when I asked him to walk again. So I would just like to know how exactly I should introduce him to trotting/loping/galloping with a rider on his back. Thanks

Training a horse to ride?

Alright, so I'm thinking about getting a summer project horse. This will actually be my first horse but I'm certainly not a beginner. I've ridden a lot of green horses and off-the-track horses and had no problems but I've never worked with a literally never-been-ridden horse before (but I've watched my trainer teach non broke horses though). I'm thinking of getting a three year old half friesian horse that hasn't even been saddled yet. He is very cool and calm, not spooky or hot at all. He is a very chill gelding, he is just such a sweetie and I don't think will be very challenging (it's not like he is a hot off-the-track Thoroughbred or a wild Mustang or anything lol). I will have a little bit of help from my trainer but it will mostly be me. I'm not going to train him to do anything fancy, just to be a nice trail horse and companion. I'm just wondering if you think it's a good idea, and if you have any advice for me. I mean I kind of know what I'm doing cause I've watched my trainer do it a million times but I've never done it myself. Plus, I'll have my trainer there if I ever need assistance. I was thinking of using Monty Robert's method of training. Which I think is a very low stress method that works very well. I mean the only way to learn is to try, right?

So i just bought a 3 year old quarter horse / paint gelding. He's only about 14.1. I'll start with his story, so there is this girl she's about 25 and she had a baby, right after her mare had this foal, so she gave him to her cousin to take care of and to train, her cousin is 13, and has only been with horses for a year, has no idea how to train a horse.. So he was just sitting in the field at her cousins house(25 year old) who did I mention has no running water or hydro? So anyways she started working with the horse but then she got pregnant again. So clearly this baby horse has been sitting in his field, sorry his 20 ft x 20 ft hole with NO grass and he is up to his knees in mud. He's never seen another horse except his mother, who died when he was about 1 and a half. So the girl that owned him before she gave him to her cousin, was convincing me not to buy him and she said she was going to work with him . The thing is she has no idea how to train a horse. She thinks he has aggression problems that she can fix, but clearly when he throws and ru s his head on her it's not Aggression he just wants some love! The poor guy , I feel so bad. So I was supposto rent the trade from the girl now the lights are mysteriously " broken " and I can't use it , so we found another trailer, but like I know this horse is going to a great home, where he will be fed proper hay and actually grain. How do I introduce him to other horses? And where do I start my training to get rid of bad habits?

A "problem horse" that shouldn't be a problem....?

Try to think back to the day he bucked... was it simply a buck from his high spirits or did he pin his ears back as though in pain. if its the first one then most likely it is you who has lost confidence in riding and in that case defiantly go to some lesson and brush up on your skills horses can sense everything and its most likely he can now tell your scared on him and because you have a great bond on the ground he really trusts you so if you get on him scared or nervous hes going to think there is something to be scared and worried about. If its was the second option with the ears pinned back then perhaps he spooked at something or maybe his saddle pinched him and now Associates you with that but that is unlikely as ye have such a great bond on the ground. you say he is fine for other people so its unlikely to be pain related. but its hard to tell without seeing. So ya go get some lessons and maybe bring your horse too after a couple weeks ( maybe longer depending on your riding standard) it will be great to have a trainer there to help you too.Also finally he could just be taking the piss and sense you aren't able to control him and in that case bring him to your lesson and get firm with him he could just need some good schooling. Don't worry i am sure your problem will soon be sorted and ye can go back to the way it used to be. good luck

I'm getting a new horse tomorrow and i've been searching for a new name for him for the past couple of months but so far i haven't found anything that really fits him perfectly. He's a 17.2 dark bay 6 yr old ex-racehorse gelding. I'd like an uncommon, unique name, one that speaks of masculinity but also gentleness and softness. So a name that would fit a strong silent type. One worded names though please, he already has a registered name (his racing name) but i don't want his name to be related to that one at all.

I finished a technology "discovery" class a few months ago and looking back at it, it was such crap. I was proofreading a report for my guy friend (who's a senior) while I was on the computer in that class and he's like "Who's report is this, your name isn't Jerome?" But then he called the English 12 teacher and was like "I believe one of my students is doing any assignment for your class blah blah blah." And so I had to explain that I was only proofreading it. I had that English 12 teacher for AP English too. She excused me but the technology teacher sent a report to the office anyways. ******* ****. the foals father died before she was born? i did not know my mare was pregnant when i got her and the foal has one of two stallions. i had a problem with horse boarding and ended up moving them an hour away for full board but then i discovered the lady caring for them was doing what she wanted with them. she ended up putting my two stallions together and the one killed the other. needless to say she has no contacts with my horses anymore, but i couldn't find any way to prossicute her. i owned both stallions but they were going to be gelded so i dont know anything about registering this foal.

I'm kind of shooting in the dark here..but it might be warts? If it really bothers you, you can get a vet out to see what they are..sometimes bumps just come from an allergic reaction to something or even a bad bug bite?

Horse resisting leg aids?

My 5 year old gelding is resisting my leg aid. Whenever I apply the aids he puts his ears back, head up and stiffens his body in the trot and he begins to resist going forward. Whenever I ask for the canter aid he often kicks out (this did develop into a serious bucking issue which I used the "circle" method to stop him from bucking) and now he will often just kick out and rarely a buck. Sometimes he doesn't kick but he is still resisting the aid and often he will fall into the canter and rush. Another issue is sometimes he will just ignore my leg (especially on the right rein) and not listen at all (but this will eventually develop again into him misbehaving). I would like some suggestions on what I can do to help him accept my leg.. he is an extremely sensitive horse and I am hardly using my leg at all, it is a very light squeeze and I mostly ride him from my seat. When I was on the ground I found another thing that was unusual.. when I put pressure in the spot where my leg would be he would put his ears back and turn his head to me (but I am certain he is not sore in any way, we have had the vet check this).. What could be the problem and what can I do to fix the situation?

How the hell does he keep getting out?

My little gelding is about 14.1hh , he's is enclosed in a field with no trees, but he has a little shelter in the middle of the field, the ground is pretty much flat, the fencing has 2, 2" x 6" planks, one about a foot and a half off the ground and another about 5 feet off the ground with electric tape running through the middle of the two, I know for sure the fence is working I shocked myself the other day, -_- anyways every morning i come to check on him and he is about 30 from the fence on the OTHER side of the fence. I know ge can't jump that high he's to clumsy. How can he possibily get our?! The gate is always securly fastened, and he isnt kept with other horses but he never has been and he really shows no intrest:/

Ah, my guy can be like that. With horses who get lippy, since it can transition to them biting, I don't allow them to lip. Give him a "love tap" on the nose with your hand. Won't hurt him, it'll just snap them out of it and they'll be like "whoa I did something wrong! Better not do that again!" But be consistent because they don't learn from the first time :)

How do I stop my horses from doing this?

I have two horses and just moved last month to my own acreage, and brought my horses. there is pipe fencing around the house, and for the past 3 or so weeks they have been reaching under to get the grass on the lawn. The pipe only has one bar across the top. I will walk out and they will be on their knees ( =O!!!!!!!!!!) reaching farther out for grass. They go back and forth so they have completely rubbed their manes out in one spot :'( I cut my mares mane because it was already ugly, but my gelding has a long flowing mane and I would cry if I have to chop it off. How do I stop my horses from doing this so I can save their manes? I can't add more pip to the fence because it is to expensive. I need something that won't break the bank but work effectively. I just got my gelding started on barrels and when we canter the pattern he seems to lose focus when going around a barrel. So to get him back on track before we go around the barrel, I yell his name, "Tonto! " or "Hey!". Advice on horse that dislikes being ridden outside?

Basically, I got a horse today and he was a total gem the two times I went to go try him out. He's a 16.3hh Irish Draught 5yr old gelding. I went to go and try and ride him in the outdoor today and he was horribly spooky. He seemed really tense and his ears were back the whole time, but when I moved him into the indoor he relaxed completely, and was a total plod (which is what he was when I went to try him). It depends on what you are wanting to do. English or western style riding. For most english events, you do need a lot of equipment, although not a ton, and most shows that are worth competing for want you to have your horse registered. Western style riding is slightly different. You can get by with the basics and most western shows don't require that you be registered with an organization. It really depends on what your final goal is. If you are wanting to work your way to the top, then western events in most areas will be fine. English tends to be slightly more picky. Is it safe to administer a horse's tetnus shot after the booster?

So my horse messed up his leg yesterday and I wa stuck at work and had a friend meet the vet at my house to have the horse looked at. When the vet asked her if my gelding had his tetnus shot she told him yes. Speed problems with my horse?

So I own a 13 year old Appendix Quarter Horse gelding. At the end of April he was ruuning 16.3's in barrel racing at an arena. A huge wave of EHV-1 hit our area, so I was out of competing for about a month. And while I was out of competing, I did practice with him on barrels, poles, etc. Now there's a summer series of speed at the same arena we were running 16.2 and 16.3's at. Now he's running 17.0's and 17.5's there. The first Summer Series, he ran a 25.4 in poles, a 17.5 in barrels and a 10.4 in straitaways. Before he was running 23.1's in poles, 16.2's in barrels, and 9.8's in straits. I went and ran him again today, we got a 17.0 in barrels and 10.4 again in straits. What's wrong? It's like all of my horse's speed has dissapeared! Pleas help! Thanks so much!

I wouldn't get a new bit. I would just work on making him stop leaning on you. Once he leans, just pull back on his mouth. Don't yank or anything though. Eventually he should stop leaning as long as you pull back as soon as he leans.

I wouldn't leave him in a stall longer, because he will lose muscle and may start bad habits out of boredom, like cribbing. Taking long rides and pushing him enough to sweat will help him take some weight off. Lunging about a forty-five minutes 3-4 times a week will help build muscle, replacing the fat. Checking what types of grass grow in the pasture might be helpful because some grasses are only healthy in small amounts and in large amounts might make them gain weight. I know someone said this already, but using a grazing muzzle will help decrease the grass they eat in the pasture, especially, as I said before, it is too rich of a grass. If none of this helps, you might want to consult your vet and ask about what might help him lose the weight and put him on a good nutrition plan. Watch him to make sure he is getting enough exercise in the pasture and has a large area to run in.

Ask a professional saddle fitter at a saddle store. They could check the fit and recommend a saddle to fit his boney back. You could also try a gel pad or a wither relief pad. Maybe try extra padding and see if that helps. You could also lunge him with the saddle to correct any vices he has towards the saddle. Talk to your coach about his vices and your concerns.

My filly is too young to be weaned but Mom is struggling....?

I have a filly born 5/6/11 and for being under 2 months old, she is HUGE... Mom doesn't fuss about feeding time but filly is sucking her dry. She's far too young to be weaned I think however I'm having trouble with Mom dropping weight. I've been dying my hair for about three years now, it's been ginger, pink, purple, black, brown and blond. Blond being my natural colour. But the last colour i dyed my hair was a permanent black and i had black hair for at least four months, then i got really bored of it. So i now decided i wanted to go back to my natural ash blond colour. I have bleached it twice so far, with the Jerome Russell kits, the first time it went a dark ginger and now it's slightly yellow and light ginger. My roots are really bright. I now don't know what to do because i think if i dye it over ash blond it wont go that colour because it wouldn't be strong enough? How do I stop bouncing my knees up and down when I canter?

I ride a beautiful 16-hand Quarter Horse gelding named Montana Sky (Monti). He's really smooth and comfortable, but I seem to have a problem with keeping my knees glued to the saddle. I am fine at the trot, but when I canter my knees slide up and down with every stride, and that causes me to lose my stirrups. Help please!

Girth Itch? What does it look like?

My Paint gelding has a sore spot in his girth/armpit area? It looks like a scrape, like he rubbed it raw on something. We have been using Vetrecin spray on it 3x daily. It has gone from red and fleshy (eww...) to light pink and healing ( I hope...) I haven't ridden him in a week and a half, since I noticed the problem. Shetlands can be rather stubborn creatures. The more time you spend with them the better they will gentle. Our new colt is responding to touch while we hold a feed bucket to preoccupy him. I suggest simply getting it used to a blanket on its back first and move up to sand bags to get them used to weight on its back. this worked for the tangs I broke as a child. Good Luck!

okay so my natural colour is supposed to be a darkish blonde. about a year ago i began colouring my hair very dark brown up until now. for ages ive wanted to be light blonde and so im trying to get there. a couple of weeks ago i had my friends mum bleach my hair with jerome russell b blonde (something like that), the roots came up a very very light yellowey blonde, the rest of my hair was a dark gingery colour. so the next day we bleached it again with the same dye, and some of it came up light ginger and some of it was medium ginger (the roots still a very light blonde). after that we put a clairol beige blonde toner on it, this made it look a little bit better but overall my hair was patchy and looked awful. so a few days after that my mum took me to a salon to see what they could do, they did a few strand tests, and one of the tests made my hair go a bleach blonde colour which was really nice, but the hair was in such bad condition. in the end they decided to give me some highlights which made it look a little bit less patchy and helped to disguise the line separating the blonde and ginger a little bit. so now my hair is very light blonde at the roots and gingery everywhere else. my problem is that i dont want to be ginger for much longer because the comments do my head in and well, i just want blonde hair really :( what do you recommend? and also please be reasonable with the cost of your suggestion as my mum has had to pay out a fortune on my hair already and its not even blonde! please be nice :)

Legend injections for horses?

I have an 8 year old belgian warmblood gelding who is a competitive 1.20m show jumper. He recently had a neck/shoulder injury because of inflammation which is common in show jumpers. My trainer injects her 18 year old ex-grand prix horse with Legend and when the vet came out to give it to her horse on friday, she asked if maybe it would benefit my horse. The vet thought it would and so he gave him a shot of it and he was jumping really well today. I was just wondering what it is exactly and what it does/any information on it. My understanding it that it lubricates their joints to prevent arthritis. Arthritis is caused by the fluid in between their joints wearing down and then the joints/bones grinding down on eachother so my belief was that Legend just adds a bit of "elbow grease" to their joints to make them feel better, jump well and prevent arthritis. Any information would be appreciated! :)

By the way you worded your question, I am going to assume that you have never been formally taught to work with gaming horses. Gaming is not all about speed, it's more so about being able to perform the patterns flawlessly. You need a horse that can turn with ease, remain under control before, during and after the run, and listen to your hand, leg, seat, and voice cues. You also need to be a knowledgeable rider and be aware that yanking a horse around turns and racing around an area is not good gaming. If I had to choose a horse out of the ones listed, I would say either of the QH's, but both sound like they need work. The first would need to learn how to turn, and the second would need show exposure as well as turns. The other two just sound like you're asking for trouble; a large thoroughbred with lots of go go go and absolutely no whoa is a horrible gaming choice. And the thought of throwing a horse immediately after being saddle broke into gaming is a bad choice as well. Hard time putting weight on my 27 year old gelding?

I got a beautiful bay gelding thoroughbred for my 18th birthday from my dad I love him so much his show name is Calm Before The Storm but his stable name is Callie, I love him so much when I first got him he was nervous around me but I was show how to use this Join-Up technique by one of the instructors that work at the Equestrian centre were his boarded and it work amazingly he trust me fully when I go to visit or ride him he always seems to know I'm coming and calls out to me and looks so happy. Honestly. . .I've been inside a church where there were floppings around on the floor and people speaking in supposed tongues. I was creeped out and did not feel the Holy Spirit in that church. I do not think that in our times, people have the ability to speak in tongues. To speak in a tongue from the Bible was a miracle. The speaker did not know the language they were speaking and only a trasnlator of the tongue could tell what that person was saying. I think it is very creepy that religions pass off that they are able to speak in tongues. My one and only experience, in my own personal opinion of what I heard, was that it was some memorized religious chant that the person just said over and over again, AND they knew what they were saying. I think that gift was OT and I don't think that people have the gift of tongues today. Joint Supplement Help?

I have a 15 year old OTTB gelding who has been having issues with his stifles, and when the vet came out and did flexions on him, he said that his front legs had a real severe case of arthritis. They recommended 2 options, injections or supplements. I am going to try supplements first, because according to my friends, it is a lot cheaper and more reliable (but I'm not sure, so if you guys could give me some info on injections, that would be extremely helpful). Horse paws while standing still when riding?

So, I have a 4 year old gelding who started this today. He tends to paw when he gets bored but typically it's during baths or if he's tied up. He's gotten better on the ground because I've made him stop. But today, after warming up at the walk, I asked him to whoa and stand still because it's something he doesn't like to do. 3 seconds after I stopped him, he started pawing out. I pulled back on the rein and squeezed him with the leg on that side while telling him to quit. He stopped but I don't know if this was the right correction. What should I do to get him to stop pawing, in case he does it again?

How to keep a TB gelding cool in blazing heat?

My friend brought home her bay TB ex-hurdler gelding last wednesday. He's settled in really well and loves living out with unlimited grass to eat! But lately there's been a heatwave in Southern England which is hopefully leaving, but it might come back. During the heatwave at the weekend when it was the worst, my friend would have to go out and hose down Beau every half an hour. There's a bit of shade at the bottom of the field, but he likes to graze at the top which is closest to her house, where there is also no shade whatsoever. We led him to the shade and left him there, but within ten minutes he'd wandered back to the top. My friend really can't go and hose him down every half an hour to keep him cool, it takes a lot of effort and Beau is VERY strong since he's an ex-racer, and dances a lot when he's sprayed with water, even on a light setting, and my friend obviously can't control a 16hh TB ex-racer on her own, while spraying him. How else can we keep him cool without having to hose him down? Apart from shade as well obviously? Thanks :)

Yeah, definitely no glitter if you plan on going to a show. Also, check to make sure the show/discipline you ride even allows quarter marks. Your best bet is to keep it small, simple, and subtle because quarter marks are not in style any more and you don't want to attract to much attention with them. It would be a shame if something as trivial as quarter marks cost you and your horse a ribbon.

How can I fix dangerous spinning when mounting my horse?

Hi there. I recently adopted a 14 yr old Morgan gelding. He has had extensive training by his previous owner but he was just too spirited for her (she was 54 and never rode previously in her life). If he refused or acted spooky with her on his back, she would simply dismount and walk him home. I was made aware of all of his quirks before purchasing him and warned of his stunts. He is very intelligent and picked up a very dangerous bad habit with his previous owner. I have knocked out a few trail rides with him this week and was quite successful with him once I was able to mount him. Here's the problem: he spins the second I lay the reins across his neck and prepare to mount. It's not a walking off problem or a "little" spin at all! He spins hard and doesn't stop, even when somebody holds him. I've tried mounting against a fence, and that hasn't helped. The only way that I can, is if someone holds him by his bit from the back of their horse. That way he cant spin into the other horse, move forward or spin into me. And if you put a foot in the stirrup and rush to throw your other leg over his back, he's off for the races and at times will buck! He'll do anything to keep you from getting your seat. Now, I've had this horse vetted and had a chiropractor check him over. He had his teeth floated in April. He doesn't do any of this in an indoor arena- he stands perfectly still! I lounge him for fifteen minutes on each side and also try spinning him to disengage his hindquarters before attempting to mount with no success. This only happens before leaving the barn for a trail ride. Out on the road I can dismount and remount without any problems. He really seems to enjoy the rides and leads with excitement, so I'm thinking it's just a real bad habit/ trick that he's learned. Any other suggestions on how to correct this?

I have an 8 year old belgian warmblood gelding who is a competitive 1.20m show jumper. He recently had a neck/shoulder injury because of inflammation which is common in show jumpers. My trainer injects her 18 year old ex-grand prix horse with Legend and when the vet came out to give it to her horse on friday, she asked if maybe it would benefit my horse. The vet thought it would and so he gave him a shot of it and he was jumping really well today. I was just wondering what it is exactly and what it does/any information on it. My understanding it that it lubricates their joints to prevent arthritis. Arthritis is caused by the fluid in between their joints wearing down and then the joints/bones grinding down on eachother so my belief was that Legend just adds a bit of "elbow grease" to their joints to make them feel better, jump well and prevent arthritis. Any information would be appreciated! :)

I have two horses, one who was gelded early and one who was gelded when he was young but later than the other. The one gelded later had a chance to fill out, he has a lot of muscle. If it is a twenty minute drive it will take at the very least 2 times as long meaning there and back would take one hour and twenty minutes. Furthermore after caring for the other horses would you still have enough time to travel there get home and be able to do your homework, sleep and eat. On weekends would you still have time to see your friends. Ask your mum if it would be possible to take your instructor or another experienced person with you to make sure that this horse is even a possibility. Also you could see if you could lease him with another person so you would have less responsibility.

This is pretty typical of a older lesson horse. Since they haven't had too many good riders they pick up really bad habits. I would probably sell because a) you have a buyer b) your mom doesn't want to actually ride THIS horse c) you don't like him and d) I'm guessing you already have your own horse. Why spend time and energy working with a horse that doesn't have too much potential to start off with, especially one that isn't yours?
