My horse acts crazy when her friend is somewhere else and she isn't with him. What should I do?

My horses name is Genie and she has a gelding friend named Kid. They are best friends and whenever he is getting ridden she goes crazy and starts whinnying and running back in forth. Even though she has like 22 acres to run around.
